Description of the group
CLEA is a Life Sciences SME based in Delft, Netherlands with broad expertise and experience in the immobilization of enzymes for industrial applications and developing green, biocatalytic processes for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The company has key strategic links with the Department of Biotechnology of the Delft University of Technology.
Prof
. Roger A. Sheldon, CEO and founder of the company, will lead the contribution to the project. He is the (co)author of seven books, more than 450 scientific publications and more than 50 granted patents. Other members of CLEA Technologies participating in the project are Dr.
Paul Konst and Dr.
Jo-Anne Rasmussen.
Main role in INDOX
The main role of
CLEA will be to immobilize the various enzymes investigated in the project as cross-linked enzyme aggregates (CLEAs). This will increase their thermal stability and tolerance to organic solvents and enable their facile recycling and, hence, cost-effective for industrial applications. Co-immobilization of oxidases and peroxidases will enable their efficient application in cascade processes.
CLEA will also contribute to the feasibility studies in the Demonstration activities of the project.
